Changing the default background display - VIVE
When you turn on the VIVE system, the first thing you'll see is a default background display. It's the same background that shows when you exit SteamVR Home. From the System Dashboard, select . Select Play Area. Click the image to the right of Background.

May 4, 2016 · Go to settings in SteamVR and select the Environment tab. There's one other background available, but you should definitely subscribe to some of the workshop backgrounds as well. Mar 23, 2016 · The standard SteamVR backgrounds use a resolution of 8192x4096. This might be very high, however when previewing it with a vive headset the picture is displayed at a near native resolution. Any lower resolution will still "work" though it will have a blurry apearance.

Go to a location you would like to photograph for your SteamVR background. Open the Google Camera app and select the Photo Sphere option (the one that looks like a globe).

Oct 16, 2016 · When you first install and use the Vive it has a background surrouding you that says something like "it's real" and there's a moon and a horizon. I tried a different background once, but now I can't get that original background back! If I choose the default again it puts me in the white background. I want the official Vive background again!

Apr 27, 2016 · Use the system button to bring up steam vr screen > settings/options > Environment > Images/Pictures (or something like that, don't have my Vive on right now). Also, that default environment you're in with the planet, I had an issue where it disappeared on me after I subbed to a whole bunch of backgrounds in the workshop.
