Just did this and it appears to have worked. Tightened the screw until the disc was out just enough for me to pull out. Then put the PS5 back together, threw the disc in, and it was making that same sound. Ejected the disc and re-inserted and now the sound is gone.

Nov 19, 2023 · I have a 1st gen disc version (got lucky with a Walmart drop early on in the first wave of releases). I have taken mine apart 4-5 times in the last year, taken out the fan and deep cleaned the hell out of it. It's still overheating every time I'm getting to about 20 minutes of gameplay on any AAA PS5 games.

Hi. This happened to me. I bought my PlayStation 5 from the PlayStation direct website in August 2022 . So it is no longer in the one year warranty. The PlayStation just stopped recognizing PlayStation 5 discs and blurays about a couple months ago. The weird thing is that it will still recognize and play DVDs fine.

In my opinion this was a very bad decision on Sony's part to make these two different consoles. Even though it is all but obvious that the disc version can download digital versions of games, just like the PS4, i am seeing that it still confuses people.

The beauty of having the disc as a license is that you can press and write them all the same way. The playstation 1 had an interesting method: their discs were generic CDs, but they pressed the inner ring in a way that would change the way the laser read the disc so the console would recognize it as a legitinate game.

It said there were no updates. I went back into safe mode and chose the system update bit. Waited about 10 minutes for the system to update then install. As it finished the install I heard a click come from the disc drive. I put in my jedi survivor disc (which is what I was trying to play before all this happened) and my disc drive took the disc!!

And yes, I've verified they are clean and inserted the right way, I've checked every game disc I own as well as Blu-Rays (which I verified play fine in my PS3 and PS4), I've rebooted the system, rebooted into safe mode and cleared cache and then rebuilt the database, no luck.
