Golden Valley, Minnesota, is 10.5 square miles and is located five miles west of downtown Minneapolis, with access from four major highways: I-394, U.S. 169, MN 100, and MN 55.
History | Golden Valley, MN
Between 1910 and 1940, Golden Valley's population increased from 692 to 2,040. More residential development followed industry's discovery of Golden Valley after World War II, and the village continued to grow. It became a city in 1972.

Water System | Golden Valley, MN
The Joint Water Commission (JWC) cities of Golden Valley, Crystal, and New Hope purchase water from the City of Minneapolis, which draws its water supply from the Mississippi River. After treatment and purification, the water is pumped to its customers throughout the metro area.
