Prince George was the husband of Queen Anne (1665-1714), who ruled Great Britain and Ireland from 1702 to 1714. Boundaries: Bounded northwest by District of Columbia & Montgomery County; northeast & east by Patuxent River; south by Charles County; west by Potomac River.
Under a home rule charter since 1970, Prince George's County is governed by an elected County Executive and an eleven-member County Council, nine elected by Councilmanic District and two at-large seats.
