We use fingerplays and action rhymes in storytime to practice isolating movements (prepares children for writing), to connect to stories through actions, and to make storytime more engaging. A fingerplay is anything that involves moving the fingers around. Familiar examples are: “Itsy Bitsy Spider” or “Thumbkin” .
