The new geologic map was produced to establish the relationship between different lithological units by mapping out distinct geologic boundaries, and delineating the general structural trend of associated geologic structures on a geologic map.
The geology of Akwnaga area of northcentral Nigeria is dominated by schists, metaigneous gneisses and weakly to non-foliated granites. The Schist shows grades up to the sillimanite zone of the Barrovian type regional metamorphism and occurs as xenoliths in other rocks of the area.
Geological mapping, structural analysis and geophysical investigation were done to ascertain the different rock types and to locate areas with thick weathered zone and fractures containing groundwater.
Ninga area of Akwanga Development Area, North central Nigeria was investigated for the evaluation of groundwater potential. The area is underlain by the Basement Complex of the North-Central Nigeria.
