A zebra who lived at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence for more than two decades died last week in a “tragic accident," the zoo said.

Samantha, a 24-year-old Plains zebra, was injured “after colliding with a fence in her holding area,” according to Roger Williams Park Zoo.

Zoo officials are mourning the loss of a beloved zebra who died in a bizarre incident during Saturday’s storm.
