CHICAGO –– A key part of the White Sox ongoing rebuild takes place Sunday and Monday with the MLB Draft. General manager Chris Getz and company will make their first selection at No. 10 overall, followed by a second-round pick at No. 44.
Its Friday, July 11 and after a night of rain, the Guardians (43-48) are in Chicago to take on the White Sox (31-62) in a day/night doubleheader. Logan Allen is slated to take the mound for Cleveland against Shane Smith for Chicago.
Stuck choosing at No. 10, but with two picks in the first 44, the Sox are hoping to nab a pair of players to make the next stars of their rebuilding project.
The White Sox haven't done well with top-10 picks since the run that included Frank Thomas and Robin Ventura. They will pick 10th Sunday due to anti-tanking rules.
The "45" jersey patches, designed for the remainder of the 2025 season in memory of closer Bobby Jenks, will be worn for the first time as part of the White Sox uniform during their doubleheader against the Guardians on Friday.
