A Union County home explosion that injured two people earlier this month was accidental, investigators determined. Multiple crews responded to a reported explosion at a home on Steeple Chase Circle in Weddington on Nov.

According to authorities, the husband of the couple had burns from the blast and was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center in Winston-Salem, while the wife was treated for lacerations.

A fuel-air explosion is a type of explosive that mixes fuel with oxygen in the air to create a massive blast, the Fire Marshal's Office explained.
