Cuts made to the Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Trump administration severely impaired its ability to respond to the devastating floods in central Texas.

The administration supported search and rescue operations in Kerr County, Texas, after at least 120 people died and dozens went missing in deadly floods.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency included Camp Mystic in a "Special Flood Hazard Area" in its National Flood Insurance map for Kerr County, Texas, in 2011.

Trump was also quick to criticize the Federal Emergency Management Agency's response to both disasters, and as president, he has said he wants to "wean off" FEMA and phase out the agency in an effort to shift more responsibility for recovery to states.
