The Yankees non-tendered infielder Jon Berti and left-hander Tim Mayza ahead of Friday’s 8 p.m. ET deadline, the club announced, making them both free agents. New York did agree to terms on new one-year contracts with right-hander JT Brubaker and outfielder Trent Grisham.

Berti was projected to make $3.8 million and Mayza $4 million, according to MLB Trade Rumors’ annual estimates, in their final arbitration years. The Yankees also announced they avoided arbitration with Trent Grisham and JT Brubaker.

Jon Berti, who started three postseason games at first base for the Yankees when Anthony Rizzo was out with fractured fingers, was non-tendered by the team prior to Friday’s deadline, as was left-hander Tim Mayza.
