Helene was a Category 4 hurricane as it made landfall along Florida's Big Bend and Nature Coast. Here's what's happening Friday, the day after.

Official says to prepare for "thousands of downed trees, more than a hundred blocked roads, hundreds of damaged structures, and many, many days of extended power outages."

The storm made landfall as a Category 4 colossus in Florida’s Big Bend region late Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Some Tallahassee residents are assessing the damage following Hurricane Helene. Crews with the city of Tallahassee have begun cleanup efforts. On Friday morning at daylight, they began responding to numerous calls about downed power lines and trees in local neighborhoods.

Hurricane Helene will affect the weather in the Canton area through the weekend and into the early part of next week as it moves northward from the southeastern U.S. Showers are likely during high school football games tonight.
