Stop & Shop has threatened to close the Freetown warehouse if union workers don’t agree to cut their health care benefits, the Teamsters said.

The supermarket chain is threatening to shut down its Freetown distribution center, where more than 1,000 people work, if the Teamsters Local 25 doesn’t meet its demands.

FREETOWN, Mass. (WLNE) — Teamsters Local 25 members are picketing this morning at the Stop and Shop distribution center in Freetown. The two sides have been at odds over contract talks at the Freetown warehouse. Stop and Shop wants the members to give up the health care plan they’ve been using for over 40 years.
