An Israeli attack on Syria's historic city of Palmyra killed 36 people and wounded more than 50 on Wednesday after it hit residential buildings and an industrial zone, the Syrian state news agency SANA reported.

DAMASCUS, Syria -- Syria's state-run media say 36 people have been killed in a strike on the town of Palmyra blamed on Israel.

The news agency SANA said the strikes also led to “significant material damage to the targeted buildings and the surrounding area.”
