OpenAI is working on new revenue lines, debt partnerships and further fundraising as part of a five-year plan to make good on the more than $1tn in spending it has pledged to create world-leading artificial intelligence.

The companies said OpenAI would design the chips, which Broadcom will develop and deploy starting in the second half of 2026. AMD agreed to supply artificial intelligence chips to OpenAI in a multi-year deal that would also give the ChatGPT creator the option to buy up to roughly 10% of the chipmaker.

Just two weeks after its rival Nvidia struck a massive AI deal with ChatGPT owner OpenAI, AI chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices did the same.
