Microsoft has made Chinese startup DeepSeek's R1 artificial intelligence model available on its Azure cloud computing platform and GitHub tool for developers, the U.S. company said on Wednesday.

Microsoft made DeepSeek's groundbreaking R1 AI model available on the Azure AI Foundry platform as well as GitHub.

AI revenue run rate reached $13 billion, as the company reported $69.6 billion in revenue for the December quarter, up 12%, with earnings of $3.23/share, topping Wall Street's expectations by both measures.

Before that, a clip of Satya Nadella being “good” with his $80 billion went viral, and it seems as if Microsoft is only doubling down on AI from now. It recently reported its fiscal Q2 2025 earnings.

Microsoft has tested Wall Street's patience by plunking down huge amounts of cash in pursuit of profits from AI that have yet to satisfy investors.

Microsoft on Wednesday forecast disappointing growth in its Azure cloud computing business, sending its shares down more than 5% as investors worry about big spending, elusive artificial intelligence revenue and growing competition from cheaper AI models from China.
