Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei congratulated Iranians for what he described as a victory over Israel and the United States, in defiant remarks published on state media that appeared to be his first public statement since U.S. war planes bombed three of the country’s nuclear facilities.

President Trump announced a cease-fire between Iran and Israel on Monday evening, hours after Iran fired a missile barrage against the largest U.S.-operated military base in the Middle East. Iran's foreign minister later said his country would halt firing if Israel stopped its attacks.
