Russia’s Mirra Andreeva, 17, defeated Dane Clara Tauson 7-6(1), 6-1 to win the Dubai Tennis Championships on Saturday, becoming the youngest woman to win a WTA 1000 event since the introduction of the format in 2009.

As a WTA 1000 tournament, Dubai is one level below a Grand Slam tournament and at 17, the 12th-seeded Andreeva became the youngest to win one since the format was introduced.
