"You're going to see planes launching behind you literally going to almost every continent in the world today from DFW," Donohue said. $1.6 billion will go toward creating the new terminal while the remaining $2.7 billion will be used for upgrades in terminals A and C.

Terminal F will not have its own security checkpoint, check-in area or baggage claim. Travelers will go through Terminal E, then take the Skylink. To handle the increased traffic, Terminal E will be expanded with an additional 100,000 square feet of security, check-in and baggage claim space.

Terminal F, a $1.6 billion project, will accommodate the region’s expected growth with 15 new gates and a Skylink rail station.

DFW Airport workers are breaking ground on a new terminal. This expansion of 15 new terminals comes as the airport is expecting over 100 million fliers by 2030.

The most popular destinations for travelers flying out of DFW for Thanksgiving are expected to be Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. Over 260,000 people will pass through DFW on the busiest days of the Thanksgiving travel season. Over 81 million people traveled through DFW in 2023, making it the third-busiest airport in the world.
