U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday dismissed Colleen Shogan, the Archivist of the United States, and announced plans to shake up the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in his latest moves to upend institutions in Washington.

President Dwight Eisenhower first envisioned the cultural center which sits on the east bank of the Potomac River as an “artistic mecca.”

The president had an at-times contentious relationship with Washington's iconic theater during his first term.

Adams will attend with Tiffany Raspberry, his deputy mayor of intergovernmental affairs, a staffer from Raspberry’s office and Liz Garcia, a spokesperson for the mayor.
