The 2024 November general election is underway. The state has 13 U.S. House seats to be decided on Nov. 5 but only a handful of those are expected to be competitive, starting with open seats in mid-Michigan and around the Flint-Saginaw-Bay City area.

The canvassers' meeting inside the Michigan Senate's Binsfeld Office Building lasted about 90 minutes and cemented former President Trump's victory of 1.4 percentage points, 49.7%-48.3%, over the incumbent vice president.

President-elect Donald Trump won Michigan by about 80,000 votes in November as the state saw the greatest voter turnout in state history at more than 5.7 million ballots cast, according to state election results certified unanimously Friday by the Michigan Board of State Canvassers.
