Senate Republicans appear to have President Donald Trump’s big bill back on track after a flurry of last-minute revisions. But there's still a long way to go.

U.S. Senate Republicans on Friday were trying to reach consensus over President Donald Trump's sprawling tax-cut and spending bill, including proposed healthcare cuts that have worried some of their more populist-minded members.

Trump’s return to office sparked a tit-for-tat trade war between Washington and Ottawa after he announced sweeping 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods. Those levies were later amended with carve-outs for goods covered by the USMCA trade deal, but new sectoral tariffs on steel and aluminium have hit Canada hard.
