The BSE Sensex continued its upward trend for the second consecutive day, climbing 901.50 points or 1.13 per cent to reach 80,378.13. During trading hours, it reached a peak of 80,569.73, up by 1,093.

India's key stock market indices, the Sensex and Nifty 50, saw further gains on November 6, driven by reports of Donald Trump's substantial advantage in the 2024 US election, which enhanced investor sentiment.

As many as 41 out of 50 constituent stocks of Nifty50 ended higher, led by BEL, Adani Enterprises, TCS, HCL Tech, and Wipro

Among the major gainers on the BSE Sensex were HCL Tech, Infosys, Sun Pharma, Bajaj Finserv, and Tech M. In contrast, the biggest losers included Titan, Tata Steel, HUL, JSW Steel and Kotak Bank

The BSE Sensex was up 251.87 points to 79,728.50 points at 10:31 am, while the NSE Nifty rose 74,20 points to trade at 24,287.50.

Within the Nifty index, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Apollo Hospitals, BEL, HCL Tech and Trent were among the top gainers. On the other hand, Titan, Tata Steel, JSW Steel and Hindalco were among the top losers.

Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session in the green. Nifty 50 closed at 24,213.30, while Sensex ended at 79,476.63. Overnight, Wall Street indices ended higher ahead of the US election 2024 outcome.

In overnight trade, Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 427.28 points, or 1.02 per cent, at 42,221.88. The S&P 500 index also jumped 70.07 points, or 1.23 per cent, to 5,782.76.

The NSE Nifty 50 climbed 0.91% to 24,213.3, and BSE Sensex increased 0.88% to 79,476.63. Both indices initially declined 0.6% during trading but recovered in the final two hours of the session.
