Castellanos was guiding FSU on a potential game-tying drive. Following an electric scramble into the red zone, the senior signal-caller took a brutal illegal hit while trying to slide. The collision led to Stanford's Mitch Leigber being ejected from the contest.

Stanford holds off Florida State with a dramatic 20-13 win on Saturday night. The Cardinal defense stopped a last-second attempt by the Seminoles, who were seeking their first ACC win since 2024.

The Cardinal (3-4) entered the game as a 17.5-point underdog before beating the longtime ACC power to improve to 3-0 at home this season.

The game against Florida State is not the first time that Stanford has played a team from Florida, however. Facing UCF twice, in 2015 and 2019, Stanford beat UCF 31-7 at Stanford Stadium in week two of that season before losing to them in Orlando in 2019 in week three by a score of 45-27.

Sawchuk was stopped short of the goal line on the final play of the game. He was ruled down before scoring a touchdown after taking a shovel pass from backup quarterback Kevin Sperry and replay review couldn’t prove that Sawchuk broke the plane.
