A judge has ruled the Trump administration cannot deny funding to "sanctuary" cities and counties because of policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration efforts.

The order expanded a previous one in April that barred the Trump administration from withholding federal funding to 16 cities and counties over their local laws.

A U.S. federal judge on Friday blocked Donald Trump's administration from withholding federal funding from more than 30 so-called sanctuary jurisdictions including Los Angeles, Baltimore, Boston and Chicago that have declined to cooperate with the Republican president's hardline immigration crackdown.
