Protests were expected to run throughout the day Oct. 18 in Michigan in places as far as the Upper Peninsula as well as in Grand Rapids and in metro Detroit.
Large crowds of protesters have gathered in cities across the United for “No Kings” demonstrations against what they see a drift into authoritarianism under President Donald Trump.
Jon Stewart addressed the No Kings rallies and mocked Fox News' dramatic characterization of them, calling Trump the 'imitation crab of kings.'
While a human banner during the "No Kings" protests made an appearance Oct. 18 on Ocean Beach in San Francisco, it was during the day and included text saying, "No Kings YES on 50," a reference to the Proposition 50 question about California’s congressional redistricting.
The No Kings protest in Valparaiso was part of roughly 2,500 similar demonstrations against the Trump administration planned across the country and globe.
Protesters turned out at roughly 2,700 rallies around the country to celebrate free speech and protest many of the Trump administration's actions.
"No Kings” protests are planned for Dallas, but also North Texas suburbs, including Frisco, Arlington, Denton, Flower Mound, Forney, Garland and McKinney.
Protesters and runners will share Baltimore’s streets this weekend as the No Kings demonstration overlaps with the Baltimore Running Festival.
