Letcher County District Judge Kevin Mullins was fatally shot in the courthouse on Thursday, local media outlets reported. According to The Mountain Eagle, a sheriff has been arrested in connection to the incident.

Kentucky State Police is investigating after Stines allegedly shot Mullins in his chambers at the Letcher County Courthouse in Whitesburg. Stines turned himself over to law enforcement without incident following the shooting,
