Boeing Co. Chief Executive Officer Kelly Ortberg will testify before a Senate panel about steps the planemaker has taken to address safety and quality breakdowns in the wake of a near-catastrophe on one of its jets last year.

U.S. aviation safety regulators significantly stepped up their oversight of Boeing after a door-sized panel blew off an airborne 737 Max in January 2024.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said on Thursday he had asked Boeing's CEO to come to Washington, D.C., "as soon as possible" to discuss quality and safety issues at the company.
