President Donald Trump will be among the world leaders attending the funeral of Pope Francis set for Saturday Saturday, April 26 in Rome. The head of the Catholic church died Monday at 88 years old following a life-threatening battle with respiratory ailments.

Although Pope Francis simplified the papal funeral rites in a move of typical modesty, Saturday’s ceremony will still be full of pomp and pageantry, as the world’s Catholics bid him farewell and cardinals in the Vatican ready themselves for the millennia-old process of picking a new pontiff.

In life, Pope Francis strayed from the more conservative path forged by his predecessors Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict. But in death, Francis will be following in many of John Paul’s footsteps.
