According to NHL insider Chris Johnston, appearing on TSN's "OverDrive" on Tuesday, the organization has not ruled out the possibility of trading Elias Pettersson as the internal problems have gone nowhere and the forward has spent the season underperforming.

While Quinn Hughes remains the captain, key skater and team leader, uncertainty surrounds Elias Pettersson. Pettersson is an elite scorer and a skilled player, but what else does he have going for him? There’s some speculation that his game reflected his state of mind — down. Was he dialing it in? Was his game a bit “pouty?”

It took the Vancouver Canucks a couple of months to negotiate and finally pull off a trade with one of their feuding stars. As the heat between Elias Pettersson and J.T. Miller continued, both found themselves among potential trade pieces for the Canucks.
