Colorado, Indiana, Minnesota and North Carolina are now cautioning residents to be wary of text message scams that appear to be from DMVs.

Scam warnings have been issued in multiple states over criminals pretending to be from the Department of Motor Vehicles. The fraud scheme—which sees the attacker issue fake traffic tickets in order to get them to click on an unsafe link—has been reported in Florida,

"These scammers flood phones with these texts, hoping to trick unsuspecting [people] into handing over their personal information."
