For weeks, impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol has remained in his compound and refused to respond to detention and search warrants.

South Korea’s anti-graft agency has sought to extend an arrest warrant for President Yoon Suk Yeol, as pressure mounted on law enforcers to resolve the country’s escalating political crisis.

A top investigator vowed to do whatever it takes to break a security blockade and take in the impeached leader.

South Korea’s impeached leader is barricaded in his Seoul residence, protected by a blockade of buses, barbed wire, crowds of supporters and his own armed security guards. The question now is whether investigators can arrest him without a violent confrontation.

Behind rows of barbed wire and a small army of personal security, impeached South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol remained holed up in his sprawling hillside villa with his wife, dogs and cats on Tuesday as investigators planned his arrest.

South Korea’s anti-corruption watchdog has secured a warrant extension to arrest impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol and a second attempt to take the embattled leader into custody could happen as early as Wednesday.
