The First Alert Weather Team is tracking a potential for severe weather Sunday as a line of storms blows through. Saturday afternoon has been nice and mild with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Some isolated showers tracked through the Jacksonville metro around midday, helping to lower pine pollen counts in spots.

A winter storm that blanketed parts of the Midwest and Northeast with heavy snow and ice also unleashed severe weather, including tornadoes and damaging winds, across the South and Southeast on Wednesday.

Another powerful storm system is expected to sweep across a wide swath of the United States, bringing heavy rain to Southern California, heavy snow to parts of the West and Midwest and more snow and freezing rain to the Northeast and New England.

Multnomah County is in for a few bitter cold nights with temperatures expected to plunge below freezing for at least three days, increasing the risk of frostbite and hypothermia.
