In the cold early hours of Sunday, Feb. 2, the “Seer of Seers” will emerge from his cozy burrow in Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pa., to proclaim whether or not there will be six more weeks of winter weather.

Today, Punxsutawney lore is showcased through Gobbler’s Knob, the home of Punxsutawney Phil and the location of his annual prediction party. It also incorporates various buildings such as a welcome center with interactive exhibits about Groundhog Day.

Punxsutawney Phil usually makes his weather call early in the morning. It typically happens after 7 a.m. Tradition says Phil seeing his shadow is a sign that the next six weeks will bring wintry weather. If Phil doesn't see his shadow, it means an early spring.
