GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – Powderhorn opened its lifts for the season on Friday morning. Over the past month, mountain staff have been working tirelessly to get the slopes up and running.

Don Svedman, whose family owned the 1,245 acres Powderhorn was planned on, said whether or not the town had been established, things in the area would look similar to how they do today.

Powderhorn Resort will pump $5 million into a new chairlift, snowmaking and summer operations for 2016, marking the largest upgrade in at least 20 years for the Grand Mesa ski area.
