Just a day after making some high-profile cuts to its network, Alaska Airlines is out with a big expansion in San Diego.

Alaska Airlines is making strategic changes to its route network, with some cities losing service while others gain new international connections. Alaska Airlines said it will cut several routes this year but will add flights using Hawaiian Airlines’ Boeing 787 Dreamliners and use the widebody aircraft to support international growth from its Seattle hub over the coming years.

Alaska Airlines is launching three nonstop routes this spring from San Diego International Airport (SAN). The new routes will begin later this year with multiple daily departures. The first of the new flights to launch will be a nonstop from SAN to Phoenix on August 20.
