Pope Francis will be laid to rest outside the Vatican in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (St. Mary Major) on Saturday.

The funeral, which will take place in St. Peter's Square at the Vatican, is part of a nine-day mourning period that includes Francis' body lying in state in St. Peter's Basilica for three days.
