While MSU’s win over Illinois was huge, Purdue’s win over Oregon was even more impressive, as the Boilermakers took down the Ducks on the road. Without a loss to the scrappy Penn State Nittany Lions, that win would have put them in the No. 1 spot.

Michigan, in losing to Minnesota, fell out of a tie with Michigan State atop the Big Ten. The Wolverines are 8-0 at home this year. Michigan has announced a fourth straight sellout for Sunday.

Entering Friday, 15 of the 18 Big Ten teams are ranked inside the top 70 on kenpom.com. There's also been a real pivot to playing with more pace. The Big Ten is now up to third amongst all the conferences in tempo after rating 24th last year out of 32 leagues.
