Augusta National announces that Tiger Woods will lead the design of a short course as part of the redevelopment of Augusta Municipal Golf Course.

Tiger Woods was playing golf with Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley ahead of the Masters two years ago when Ridley mentioned the club's soon-to-be-announced project to renovate a municipal course that for nearly a century had been an affordable haven for Augusta's working-class and Black golfers.

"I'm thrilled to share the news that Tiger will lead the design of a short course as part of our redevelopment of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course, commonly known as The Patch," Ridley said. "With the schedule completion a year from now,

Tiger Woods will partner with Augusta National Golf Club and The Masters Tournament to bring "affordable golf and educational programming" to Augusta.
