The New Jersey Devils defeated the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 in overtime on Saturday night at the Bell Centre. The Devils controlled most of the play, especially in the first and third periods, where they nearly doubled Montreal’s shot total.

New Jersey scored four times in the second period and Jake Allen made 24 saves as the Devils defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 5-0 on Wednesday.

The Wild are also missing crucial players in Kirill Kaprizov and Jonas Brodin. The former has played at a Hart Trophy level this season while the latter is one of the best defenders in the sport and would be a top candidate to try and slow Laine down.
