A Westbrook man is dead after an officer-involved shooting early Saturday morning. At around 3:25 a.m., Westbrook Police say they responded to Arlington Avenue for reports of a domestic disturbance. A female caller reported that another female was in a residence reporting that her son was hurting them.

Police said the man resisted arrest and assaulted officers before he apparently armed himself with metal objects and advanced toward them, which is when he was shot.

Police in Westbrook, Maine fatally shot 37-year-old Ryan Nichols after he allegedly armed himself and did not heed commands during a domestic disturbance. Officers involved are on administrative leave pending an investigation.
