Penn State’s Terry Smith is the second interim head coach in PSU history. Who was the first?
Terry Smith, a former Penn State wideout and a team captain on the 1991 Lions team, was named interim PSU head coach on Sunday. Smith replaces the fired James Franklin as the program’s leader. Smith, who coached Penn State’s corners at the start of the season, arrived in State College in 2014 to join Franklin’s staff.
Though Mullen doesn't have any direct ties to Penn State itself, he is a native of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania. He also played tight end at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania, and spent some time coaching in the Northeast at Wagner, Columbia and Syracuse.
