A 69-year-old Hastings man is dead after authorities say he was struck by a vehicle while he was clearing a deer from the road that he had just hit.

A man trying to remove a deer he hit from an eastern Minnesota roadway died after another driver struck him, authorities said.

A 69-year-old man was fatally struck by a driver Wednesday morning while he was trying to remove a deer he had accidentally hit on the road. Dakota County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to the collision on County Road 46 near General Sieben Drive in Marshan Township at around 6:35 a.

According to the press release, the Hastings man was driving west on Dakota County Road 46 near General Sieben Drive in Marshan Township around 6:35 a.m. when he hit a deer. The driver pulled over on the shoulder and got out of his car to move the deer off the road.
