A Kenyan lawmaker was shot dead on Wednesday night in the capital Nairobi by gunmen on motorcycles, local broadcaster Citizen TV reported. The news was also reported by other Kenyan outlets, including The Nation and The Standard newspapers.

The opposition legislator had just left parliament when he was attacked by gunmen on a motorcycle, police say.

Gunmen riding a motorcycle have reportedly shot a Kenyan lawmaker, Charles Were, dead on Wednesday in Nairobi. According to Citizen TV, Were was killed at approximately 7:30 p.m. local time. The deceased represented Kasipul constituency in western Kenya.
