Tesla boss Elon Musk says he will cut back his role in the Trump administration as the company's profits and revenues plunged during the first three months of the year. Sales slumped and the brand has faced backlash as Musk became a political fixture in the White House.

Elon Musk says he plans to step back from his work at the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, starting in May. In a Tesla earnings call, Musk said next month he would continue to “spend a day or two” each week on DOGE matters, but would spend the bulk of his time focused on his electric car company.
