All mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted in the Kenneth Fire which burned through 1,000 acres in the West Hills area amid several other wildfires in other parts of Los Angeles County.

A possible arson suspect was arrested Thursday night near the Kenneth Fire area as fire crews continue battling flames burning near homes in Calabasas and West Hills. At around 4:30 p.m., Los Angeles police responded to reports of a man attempting to light a fire in the 21700 block of Ybarra Road in Woodland Hills.

A fast-moving wildfire that broke out earlier Thursday afternoon near West Hills, northwest of Los Angeles, on the border of L.A. and Ventura counties, has charred 960 acres and briefly forced mandatory evacuations.

It was initially reported as an arrest made on the suspicion of arson, with Sean Dinse of the LAPD’s Topanga Division telling news station KTLA on Thursday night that the authorities believed someone had purposefully set the Kenneth Fire.

Authorities said there was not enough probable cause to arrest the man on suspicion of arson, but he has been charged with a felony probation violation
