A judge has rejected a request to block a San Jose State women's volleyball team member from playing in a conference tournament on grounds that she's transgender.

A San Jose State women’s volleyball player is eligible to play in her conference tournament this week, a federal judge in Denver ruled Monday, despite complaints from competitors who object to her participation on the grounds that she is transgender.

The decision amid a national transgender controversy involving Blaire Fleming, a redshirt senior who joined the Spartans in 2022.
