Federal workers began receiving emails Saturday asking them to explain what work they did last week, as Elon Musk announced that “failure to respond will be taken as a resignation.”

In an X post and email shared Saturday afternoon, Elon Musk told federal employees to list what they had accomplished the prior week or resign.

The US Marshals Service has deputized members of Elon Musk’s private security detail, giving them certain rights and protections of federal law enforcement agents, three law enforcement officials familiar with the matter told CNN.

Musk said in a Thursday public appearance his security detail should potentially be bigger and that he was “open to ideas” on improving his security.
