Louisiana State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Ascension Parish Jail.Deputies identified the inmate as Darvin Mumphrey, 40. A search of inmate records shows Mumphrey was booked into the jail shortly after 2 a.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office identified the inmate who died at the parish jail on Sunday, Dec. 1. APSO said the inmate who passed away was Darvin Mumphrey, 40, of Donaldsonville. Deputies said the inmate’s cause of death is pending an autopsy.

The identity of the inmate who died has not been released, nor have any further details surrounding the circumstances of the death.
