Tim Friede, a man who injected himself with snake venom, helped create an antivenom that can protect mice from venomous snakes. Researchers hope for human clinical trials one day.
The researchers tested antibodies from Mr. Friede’s blood against venom from 19 snake species. One broadly neutralizing antibody they identified protected mice from six of the species.
